Karen Davies

B Ed (Hons), B Psych (Hons), M Psych (Clin), MAPS

Karen’s career began in education where she worked in several contexts including cltor on the Zoo Snooze program. Working closely with people led to Karen developing an interest in psychology and a fascination with the way the mind works.

Since qualifying as a psychologist, Karen has worked in both the public and private sectors including Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, Centrelink, North East Division of General Practice and an independent private practice. Through the course of this work, she has developed strong interests in working with children and families, perinatal mental health and anxiety disorders. 

Karen has experience in running group programs both with children and adults; she is also recognized as a diagnostician for Autism Spectrum Disorders through Autism SA. Currently Karen works as the Senior Clinical Psychologist in the Perinatal Mental Health team at the Lyell McEwin hospital and also in private practice at Central Psychology Services. She is a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and the Clinical College of the APS.

In her work, Karen draws on several clinical approaches to assist clients including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Mindfulness and Hypnosis. She is passionate about her work and the potential of psychology in helping people to lead richer, more fulfilling lives.
