The current fee recommended by our professional body, the Australian Psychological Society, is $218 per hour.
Standard Consultation
A standard consultation is generally an hour, we charge $150 -$160 and we prefer payment on the day. Please read the following information in regards to rebates that are possibly available as well.
Private Health Insurance
Many private health providers provide rebates for psychological services. Please check with your health insurance provider for further details. If you are eligible for a rebate we can process your private health insurance claim through our HICAPS facility on the day of consult.
Medicare Assistance
Medicare rebates are available to cover the cost of psychological treatments provided by Psychologists but a referral is needed from your doctor prior to coming for an appointment.
To receive a rebate from Medicare:
Ask your GP for a long consultation where a GP Mental Health Care Plan will be established. This involves assessing your needs, selecting appropriate treatment options and making arrangements for your ongoing management. Any action that you need to take will be identified. The plan will be documented and your Doctor will either forward a copy of the plan to Central Psychology Services on your behalf or may give you a copy to bring to us when you attend your first appointment.
Your Doctor will lodge the GP Mental Health Care Plan with Medicare. This lodgement opens your account with Medicare. Once lodged you may consult with your psychologist for up to twelve individual services in a calendar year. In extenuating circumstances and in consultation with the referring practitioner, this may be extended.
