Motor Vehicle Accidents

A Motor Vehicle Accident can disrupt someone’s entire life. People can contend with physical injuries, pain, concussion, trauma, driving anxiety - and sometimes ongoing court cases.

At Central Psychology, our psychologists have experience helping navigate the wide range of difficulties that can come with a car, motorbike or other vehicular accident.

We can offer cost-free, fully funded appointments to people eligible through their motor vehicle insurance; as well as supporting people with ongoing challenges through the Lifetime Support Authority.

What can we help with?

At Central Psychology, our psychologists have experience in assisting people with:

  • Trauma, flashbacks, nightmares and intrusive thoughts

  • Anxiety and feeling ‘on edge’ or watchful

  • Physical injury rehabilitation and pain management

  • Sleep difficulties

  • Driving phobia

  • Brain injuries and concussion

  • Court case stresses

  • If you have a Claims Manager, we advise that you speak to them about your challenges and your wish to see a psychologist. If you already have a claim number, you’re welcome to call us - and with your consent we can speak to them for you.

We would also recommend that you speak to your GP about what your going through and ask for their advice as well as a referral to a psychologist.

  • We recommend you speak to your GP and request a ‘Mental Health Care Plan’. This will provide up to 10 Medicare subsided psychology appointments per calendar year.

If you have private health cover, you can also ask your fund if they will cover psychology appointments.

  • Driving anxiety is more common than you think! And not everyone who experiences it has had a crash or accident.

Our psychologists can still help you cope, manage and overcome your driving or car anxiety. We recommend you speak to your GP and request a referral to speak to one of our psychologists, so we can assess your situation and advise how we may be able to help.
